Rs 1,404 crore spent on upgrading power Old City power infra

Power Minister Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy said that power distribution infrastructure is being upgraded in the Old City of Hyderabad by the Transco and TSSPDCL at a cost of Rs 1,404.58 crore.

He said that works worth Rs 1,330.94 crore have already been completed and works involving another Rs 73.64 crore are in progress. Jagdish was answering a question by AIMIM MLCs Mirza Riazal Hasan and Mirza Rahmat Baig in the Legislative Council on Friday.

He said that for upgrading the transmission network Rs 1,404.58 crore has been spent. Of this, Transco spent Rs 957.29 crore while TSSPDCL spent Rs 447.29 crore. He said that electricity transmission has been improved by spending a huge amount in the last nine years.

Four 220 KV sub-stations, two 132 KV sub-stations, 33/11 KV sub-stations and 15,256 km of 33 KV lines and 63 transformers have been installed.

He said that 565 km of 11 KV lines were laid and the capacity of 16 transformers was increased. He said that a review meeting was held with legislators of the Old City and these were done as per their request.

He reminded that even though there were problems regarding space while constructing sub-stations they were resolved with the help of local legislators. He said that there is now no evidence of power outages in the state and praised the Telangana electricity companies and their staff for preventing breakdowns in power transmission even during the floods.
