NTR District Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata on Sunday set fire to ganja worth Rs 5 crore. The banned ganja was seized from various parts of the district and was set on fire at Donabanda mine road in Paritala village under Kanchikacherla police station limits in the district.

The banned Ganja was seized from various police stations in the NTR district, Nandigama, Reddigudem, G Kondur, Mylavaram, Chilakallu, Vatsavai, Penuganchiprolu, Jaggayyapet, Chanderlapadu, Kanchikacherla, Veerulapadu, One Town, Kothapeta, Satyanarayanapuram, Ajit Singh Nagar, Nunna, Governorpeta, Suryaraopeta. The police set on fire 14,301.471 kg of Ganja to the tune of Rs 5 crore rupees seized in 702 cases.

On the occasion, CP Kanti Rana said that the police department has taken up ‘Operation Parivarthan’ programme to stop the cultivation and illegal transportation of Ganja. DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy has issued clear instructions to take stern action to eradicate ganja across the state. Ganja is an illegal substance, and strict legal action will be taken against the illegal transportation of Ganja. He said that Ganja worth Rs 5 crore was burnt to the tune of 14,301.471 kg in 702 cases. So far 702 cases have been registered in the above-mentioned 24 police stations.
