The government intends to provide investment assistance only to cultivated lands as per the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme, the Minister for Agriculture, Tummala Nageswara Rao, said.
He said that he had held talks on Saturday with representatives of companies who can estimate cultivated areas using remote sensing data to launch the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme from Sankranthi.
He said the registration of cultivated lands by farmers is done from time to time by agricultural officers. In addition to this, for accuracy in implementing the scheme, satellite data giving the area of land under cultivation village-wise with survey numbers, the area under cultivation, the area in which a crop is currently being cultivated, the status of crops
and implementation of crop insurance schemes are being collected for implementing the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Early detection of pest infection is useful in predicting crop damage caused by floods and storms, he said and added that the government is ready to provide the technology.
The representatives of companies who attended the meeting presented details of the projects they had undertaken earlier, the details of the two mandals surveyed by them, and details crop-wise and village-wise were presented to the Minister through PowerPoint. Similarly, the areas suitable for cultivation were shown through digital maps.
The models created by the companies using AI were explained to identify pests destroying crops at the beginning stage itself.
Later, the Agriculture Minister asked the companies to get ready details. He said the technical committee constituted by the government will examine them and as per the decision of the Cabinet Sub-committee, it will be sent to the Cabinet for approval.
