Declaring that politics using religion will never succeed, TPCC Senior Vice-President Mallu Ravi said that the BJP’s Hindu Ekta Yatra is not a Yatra for unity but intended to ‘split’ Hindus.
He said that the Hindu religion existed even before the BJP and that Hindus do not belong to the BJP alone. The BJP is playing politics in the name of religion by creating differences ‘between Hindus,’ he said.
Ravi said that after Sanjay became the President of Telangana BJP, he is playing politics by inciting religious feelings.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ravi said that Hindus are there not only in the Congress but in all political parties. The Hindus who are members of various political parties are praying only to Hindu Gods. He said that Hindu Congress leaders pray to Lord Rama, Hanuman, Shankara and Bhagyalaxmi.
He said that the people were watching BJP’s communal politics and will teach a fitting lesson to the BJP.
Another TPCC Senior Vice-President G. Niranjan said that the statements of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma and state BJP President Sanjay during the Hindu Ekta Yatra in Karimnagar on Sunday went against reality and were misleading. “We strongly condemn their statements for misleading the people,” he said.
Niranjan said that it is a lie to say that the slogan Pakistan Zindabad was chanted after the Congress won in Karnataka. This is totally baseless and is an insult to the people of Karnataka, he said.
Niranjan said that in Karnataka, mutts and seers are more and their influence is much more than in Telangana. He said that there is no need for Sanjay’s Hindu Ekta Yatras and that it is meant only to achieve political objectives.
He said that the world will always recognise and cherish the glory of Sanatana Dharma. Swami Vivekananda extolled the glory of Sanatana Dharma at the World Parliament of Religions meeting held in Chicago in 1893, he added.
Niranjan said it is not appropriate to spread the rumour that Hinduism is facing danger. “Can’t Hinduism flourish without blaming other religions? The Congress will always remain committed to Hinduism,” he added.
