SC allows probe into Ayyanna forgery case

In a setback to TDP senior leader and former minister of Andhra Pradesh Chintakayala Ayannapatrudu, the Supreme Court on Monday allowed the investigation into the alleged forgery case. A bench comprising Justice M R Shah and CT Ravi Kumar issued orders in this regard and clarified that the probe into the forgery case can be done under Section 467 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Apex court also set aside the High Court’s ruling in the case. The Supreme Court expressed displeasure with the High Court passing interim orders during the investigation of the case.
There are allegations against Ayyannapatrudu in the case of forgery of signatures in the building plan.

The Supreme Court directed the High Court to hear the case on merit. A State government official has filed a petition in the Supreme Court claiming that the NOC was forged.

The bench that held the hearing on Monday made it clear that the forgery case can be investigated. In the forgery case, the State High Court issued directions setting aside the interim order.
The investigation was ordered under Section 41 CrPC. The bench allowed the further investigation to proceed. The State government has accused Ayyannapatra of forging the signatures of an Irrigation department official while constructing the house.
