SCR collects Rs 211 cr through ticket checking

South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Arun Kumar Jain on Monday said the authority collected Rs 211.26 crore through ticket checking during 2022-23.

“It is the highest for the zone since its inception. SCR collected Rs 111.52 crore in the year 2021-22; its previous best was Rs 154.29 crore in 2019-20,” he added. Addressing a press conference at the Rail Nilayam, Kumar said, “SCR registered revenue of Rs 5,140.70 crore in the passenger traffic during 2022-23, which is the highest passenger revenue registered by the zone since its inception.

The SCR collected Rs 2,974.62 crore. It’s previous best was Rs 4,089 crore in 2018-19.  Speaking of freight traffic, he said, “SCR has transported 131.854 million tonnes of originating freight traffic from the zone during 2022-23. The previous best was 122-5 million tonnes during 2018-19.The originating freight revenue was recorded at Rs 13,051.10 crore as compared to Rs 10,615.68 crore in 2021-22. The previous best was Rs 10,954.69 during 2018-19.”

The general manager then shed light on the infrastructure addition saying, “48.9 km of new track lines have been laid along with 151.38 km of doubling and 182.17 km of tripling tracks. The total addition of 383.35 km to the SCR network.” As part of the new lines,15.6 km of tracks have been laid between Bhavanapalem–Sattupalli new rail line, 12.7 km between Krishna and Maganur and 21.5 km between Kodakandla and Duddeda.

Similarly as part of doubling track, 79.03 km have been laid between Guntur-Guntakal doubling and electrification project; 29.40 km as part of Gooty-Dharmavaram doubling and electrification project. 39.78 between Nidadavolu-Aravalli and 3.17 km bypass line at Gooty.

In all, 182.17 km of tripling tracks, including 100.09 km as part of Vijayawada-Gudur tripling and electrification project, 46.22 km as part of Kazipet-Balharsh tripling and electrification project and 35.86 km as part of Kazipet-Vijaywada tripling and electrification project. The SCR has also completed 1017 km of electrification which is the second best across India.

Kumar further said, “A sanction has been accorded to operate trains at a speed of 130 kmph on all Golden Quadrilateral and Golden Diagonal routes of the zone and the high density network section between Secuderabad-Kazipet. The total stretch of these sections is 1,743 km on which the trains are being run with maximum speed in the current fiscal.
