Noted journalist and well-known literary writer, K Srinivas, was felicitated by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) at an event held by the Vijayawada Press Club. During his speech, Srinivas emphasised the equal importance of responsible journalism and ownership policies. He urged journalists to maintain integrity and serve society impartially, without being influenced by caste, religion, or regional biases.
Reflecting on his career, Srinivas shared how his dedication to responsible journalism earned him respect even from those who were initially critical of his work. He also spoke about his early days as a sub-editor in Vijayawada, a city where he was closely connected to the literary community, which helped nurture his love for literature.
Srinivas recalled the challenges he faced during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh when his role as the editor for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana led to questions about his impartiality. However, he stressed that development has benefited both states, and his field visits with rural reporters gave him a closer understanding of the lives of people in rural areas.
The programme was presided over by APUWJ president IV Subba Rao. Other dignitaries who attended the event included Srinivas’ wife Sudha, IJU member Shaik Babu, Union Vijayawada Urban president Chava Ravi, secretary Daram Venkateswara Rao, Press Club president K Jaya Raju, secretary Dasari Nagaraju, and others.
