The South Central Railway Women Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO), Vijayawada, conducted a tree plantation drive at the Multi-Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute (MDDTI), Krishna Canal, on Monday. The SCRWWO team led by president Dr Jaya Mohan and executive members actively took part in the plantation drive.

The focus of the programme was planting fruit-bearing plants, an initiative aimed at enhancing biodiversity while also providing a source of nutrition and sustenance for the local community. They planted a variety of fruit plants such as mango, guava, banana, and pomegranate. They were strategically chosen to flourish in the local climate, ensuring optimal growth and an abundance of nutritious produce in the future.

Dr Jaya Mohan expressed delight over the overwhelming response to the plantation drive. She asserted that tree plantation drives combated many environmental issues like deforestation, soil erosion, desertification in semi-arid areas, global warming, and enhanced the beauty and balance of the environment. She thanked the MDDTI management for their overwhelming support to the drive launched by SCRWWO, Vijayawada. She also lauded the MDDTI management for very good maintenance of lush green gardens and greenery around the institute.
