Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that the new secretariat symbolises the reconstruction of Telangana.
“From a haphazardly built secretariat where employees had to run here and there with files in their hands during rains Telangana now has a new, modern secretariat in Hyderabad,” he said.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the iconic Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Sunday.
Addressed a gathering of Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Secretaries, the heads of departments and secretariat staff on the new secretariat’s premises KCR said, “We demolished the old building, and built a people-friendly building to house all government offices like the Warangal collectorate. There is comprehensive development in the state now,” the CM said.
“Today is a red letter day in the history of Telangana as the new state-of-the-art secretariat has been inaugurated. The marvellous new secretariat is now the epicentre of the administration. I am fortunate that I could inaugurate the new secretariat. I thank all officials for realising the hopes of the Telangana people. Towns and villages are being developed and the efforts put in by officials have created wonders in the administration,” the CM said.
He said that Dr BR Ambedkar’s message to ensure the development of all sections is a big inspiration to the state government.
“The giant statue of Dr Ambedkar near the Secretariat will always inspire government officials. During the Telangana movement, many anti-Telangana agents created trouble. After the formation of Telangana, political rivals raised doubts and criticized the government’s plan to rebuild Telangana,” the CM said.
He said that some ‘political lilliputs’ (enemies) had tried to block the construction of the secretariat by demolishing the old building in the same place. “The government moved forward and built the secretariat which is one of the few wonderful government buildings in the country,” KCR said.
He said that the construction of the Kaleshwaram Project and the Palamuru and Sitarama Lift Irrigation scheme is called the reconstruction of Telangana.
“Round-the-clock power supply is provided to all sectors. Farmers are living with honour and that is the result of the reconstruction of Telangana. The growth of villages and towns has been phenomenal. Telangana set an all-time record by winning all Panchayat awards instituted by the Centre recently. After bifurcation, the growth of forests in Telangana has been incredible. Migrant workers from Palamuru district returned to their places and have now reached the level of providing employment to migrants from other states. The fluorosis crisis has been solved permanently. Safe drinking water is provided to every household through Mission Bhagiratha. 33 districts have been created for administrative convenience which is part of the reconstruction of Telangana,” the CM said.
“Hyderabad is developing fast on par with international standards. The flyovers and underpasses in Hyderabad increased public convenience and that is called reconstruction of Telangana. There are super speciality government hospitals in all the four corners of Hyderabad and reconstruction of the famous Yadadri Temple was done in just eight years. That is the evidence for the reconstruction of Telangana,” the CM said.
KCR said that the per capita income of Telangana is ‘the highest’ in India. The per capita power consumption is also high which signals growth and economic development. The per capita power consumption has crossed 2,000 units from 1,100 units in the last eight years.
He thanked the contractor agency, the R and B Minister and the engineering staff for completing the new secretariat quickly. KCR thanked with folded hands all the workers from other states for their contributions in building the new secretariat.
