Sensitize migrant workers on HIV/AIDS: Link workers told

Programme Manager, district AIDS Prevention Control Unit T Ranga Rao underlined the need of creating awareness among migrant labour and agriculture workers on the threat of HIV/AIDS and on how to protect themselves.

Ranga Rao attended as chief guest to the district level review meeting of link workers held at Child Fund India office at Daravari Thota, Ongole on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is the responsibility of link workers to create awareness among migrant labour, agricultural labour, construction labour including those who are working in various industries as well as the drivers who are travelling far places.

He told the link workers to create awareness among them to ensure that they should not fall prey to HIV/AIDS.

Ravi Kumar, Project Field Officer, Andhra Pradesh State SETU (Strategic Expertise Technical Unit) called on the youth to possess awareness on HIV/AIDS and be the partners in its prevention through participating in voluntary blood tests.

BV Sagar, Project Director, HELP, TI Project emphasized that love and affection should be shown to the HIV survivors without discriminating against them.

Swaroop Kumar, Resource Person of Link workers stated that the social workers have the responsibility to take forward the health services by the state into each and every village. Link workers from various villages have participated in the programme.
