Set up trauma care unit in Area hospital, officials told

District Collector Vijaya Krishnan has directed the officials concerned to set up a trauma care centre in the Area hospital here to provide immediate treatment to road accident victims.

The Collector, along with SP Vakul Jindal, held a meeting here on with the officials and reviewed the steps being taken to curb road accidents in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that a proposal to develop the State highway at Jampani at a cost of Rs 37 lakh would be sent to the government. She said that a proposal to construct an RoB at Chirala at a cost of Rs 18 lakh would be sent to the government.

Vijaya Krishnan said that road accidents have come down in the district due to steps taken in the district. She underlined the need for wearing helmets by bike riders.

Asking the officials to take all possible steps to prevent road accidents, the Collector said a trauma centre should be set up in the Bapatla area hospital to provide immediate treatment to the road accident victims and save their lives. She also directed the officials to take steps to start works on the state highway at Kadavakuduru Road Bridge. She also directed the police officials to install a signalling system at busy centres in Bapatla town.

SP Vakul Jindal said that safety steps should be taken to regulate speeding vehicles on the highways which would reduce accidents. Joint Collector K Srinivasulu, District Transport Officer Chandrasekhar Reddy and DMHO Vijaya were among those who were present.
