A pall of gloom enveloped Ellutla village in Anantapur district following a road accident that claimed seven lives. The incident occurred near Thalegachipalli Cross in Garladinne Mandal when an RTC bus rammed an auto-rickshaw carrying agricultural labourers.
The victims, who were returning home after a day’s work in the fields, were travelling in the auto when the collision occurred. While two people died on the spot, five others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital. Six more passengers sustained critical injuries and are undergoing treatment, with some reported to be in serious condition.
The deceased have been identified as Tataiah (55), Ramajanamma (48), Chinna Nagamma (48), Pedda Nagamma (60), Jayaramudu, Chinna Naganna, and Kondagamma, all residents of Ellutla village in Putlur Mandal.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday expressed shock and deep regret over a tragic road accident in Anantapur district, which claimed the lives of seven daily wage earners.
Announcing Rs 5 lakh as ex gratia for each bereaved family, the Chief Minister assured them of the State government’s support. He directed district officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care.
State Transport, Youth, and Sports Minister Mandipalli Rampasad Reddy has expressed grief over the road accident.
