Sharmila to walk with Cong To merge her party on Jan 4

YSR Telangana Party President YS Sharmila Reddy said that she is ready to walk with the Congress and that she is going to New Delhi on Wednesday to meet the Congress high command.
It is learnt that Sharmila told YSRTP leaders that she will most probably get the post of AICC General Secretary. “I did not contest elections in Telangana so that I can walk with the Congress. The Congress came to power in Telangana with YSRTP support. The main reason for Congress candidates winning in 31 Assembly constituencies is that we did not field candidates. I have done my part to end KCR’s anarchic rule. I will answer all questions within two days. However, I am certainly joining the Congress. I came to Kadapa to take the blessings of my father as my son is getting married,” she said.
Earlier in the day, Sharmila conducted a meeting with YSRTP leaders at her Lotus Pond residence and made it clear to them that she is merging her party on January 4 with the Congress. She asked YSRTP leaders to come to New Delhi by Wednesday evening. It may be recalled that the Congress high command had invited Sharmila to New Delhi on January 4. Sharmila is going to join the Congress at 11 am on January 4 at AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge’s residence in the presence of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and others.
