Siricilla Assembly constituency of undivided Karimnagar district has a speciality by virtue of which, a different party gets power in the State than the party of the MLA elected from the constituency.
However, in 2014 and 2018, the constituency has the same party MLA as that of the ruling BRS. But in 2023 polls, while the Congress came to power in the State, the constituency elected KT Rama Rao as its MLA, winning the seat for the fourth time consecutively.
The reorganisation of the Assembly constituencies took place in 2009. In 2009, KTR was elected from the constituency, but the Congress came to power in the State for the second time.
However, the jinx was broken with the BRS winning the seat in the 2014 and 2018 elections. KT Rama Rao, BRS working president and IT Minister, represented the constituency in the State Legislative Assembly.
Now the situation of Siricilla constituency is back to square one. In the 2023 elections too, KTR retained the seat, but it is the Congress that is forming the government in the State.
KTR, a four-time MLA from the constituency, focused on the development of the constituency. Since he is the son of the CM KCR and a minister in the State Cabinet for two terms, he pumped funds into the constituency and implemented development works during the past nine-and-a-half years. He took pains to see to that Siricilla becomes a district.
He developed the constituency in all respects in education, health, rural development and other spheres and ensured that the constituency gets many awards.
Currently, KTR is in the opposition party as the Congress came to power in Telangana, wresting power from the BRS. The residents of Siricilla constituency were discussing whether the same development trend will continue in the constituency under the Congress rule.
They appealed to the Congress government to continue the development works initiated and ensure welfare schemes reach the target groups.
