A shocking incident of a man killing his mother at Thogita village under Haveli Ghanpur mandal late on Thursday after she refused to give him money for liquor came to light on Friday.
According to police, Pusti Narasamma (45), a woman farmer, was earning a livelihood by cultivating a small parcel of land. Apart from it, she used to work as a farmworker too. She had two sons.
One of her sons, named Bhanu Prasad under the influence of alcohol, accosted his mother and demanded money for liquor. When Narasamma refused to give money, Bhabu Prasada, in a fit of anger, attacked his mother with a sickle. She collapsed dead in a pool of blood on the spot, the police said.
The police who arrived at the scene took the accused into custody. The body was shifted to Government Hospital for post-mortem.
