BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy has been suspended from the TG Assembly. Speaker Gaddam Prasad said that Jagdish is being suspended until the end of the budget session. The Speaker ordered that the suspended Member should leave the House.
Meanwhile, Jagdish Reddy’s comments during his speech on the Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s address against the Speaker created chaos in the House.
‘You became the Speaker after we elected you. The House is not yours alone, it belongs to all of us,” Jagdish said, addressing the Speaker.
Congress Members strongly objected to this and demanded Jagdish to apologise to the Speaker. The discussion continued for some time. Later, the Speaker adjourned the House and Congress MLAs watched the video of Jagdish’s comments against the Speaker.
After a three-hour gap, the House restarted in the afternoon. Congress MLAs Vemula Veeresham, Ramachandru Naik, Madula Samuel and Ministers Seethakka, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka appealed to the Speaker to take action against Jagdish.
Vemula Veeresham and Ramachandru Naik appealed to the Speaker to take appropriate action against Jagdish for ‘insulting’ a Dalit Speaker. Mandula Samuel and Seethakka asked the Speaker to expel Jagdish from the House
Seethakka said the language spoken by the opposition member was extremely ‘insulting’ to the Chair. She said that Jagdish could not ‘digest’ the fact that a Dalit was in charge as the Speaker. She said that she wants the membership of Jagadish to be cancelled.
Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the matter should be considered seriously.
Uttam said that the BRS Government had expelled Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar from the House during the Governor’s address.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said the matter should be handed over to the Ethics Committee and the Member should be suspended for the entire session till then.
