A special yagam will be conducted on the morning of April 30 although the inauguration function of the secretariat will be held on the afternoon of April 30. The government is making special arrangements for the yagam and has constructed a yagashala on the Secretariat’s premises.
Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar said that security will be provided by the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP). The responsibility for security will be transferred from the Telangana State Special Protection Force (TSSPF) which has been looking after the Secretariat’s security till now. The DGP issued orders regarding this to the TSSP battalion’s Additional DGP.
The government took this decision to make sure that effective security is provided at the new Secretariat. The TSSP will take charge soon and around 650 TSSP personnel will guard the new Secretariat. Law and order police also supervise security at the new Secretariat by deploying 300 armed constables.
The selected staffers have been given full-time weapon training at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy in Moinabad. The new force will guard the sentry posts on all four sides of the secretariat continuously. The TSSP will provide security for VIPs.
Security personnel will be posted on all six floors, staircases and lifts. The police have arranged a command and control centre by installing 300 CCTV cameras. The police will also use state-of-the-art body, baggage and vehicle scanners.
The united Andhra Pradesh government had arranged SPF security for the secretariat through a special GO issued in 1998. About 150 SPF constables used to guard the secretariat. Now, after 25 years, the SPF is no longer in charge of security at the secretariat.
