Speed up Gandhi Park works: GMC Commissioner

Municipal Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri has directed the Superintending Engineer and other officials to expedite the development works of Gandhi Park. The Municipal Commissioner here on Thursday inspected the development works of Gandhi Park and the construction of the CC drain at Mahaboobnagar locality.

She spoke with the SE on the progress of the park renovation works. She told the officials that Gandhi Park is located in the heart of the city and would play a significant role to provide some entertainment to the denizens if it was renovated. She directed the officials to construct a walking track, grow greenery and install play equipment for children in the park. The Park should come up in a modern get-up to entertain the people, she told them. She would inspect and review the development works of the park every week henceforth, she told the officials.

Later she inspected the newly constructed CC drains and examined the measurements of the drain and the quality of work. The quality control should register the progress of the works at various stages in the record book, she instructed the officials. She warned of action if there are defects in the construction works. She told the secretariat secretaries that all buildings should be constructed after taking approvals from the Municipal Corporation.

The garbage collection should take place efficiently, she said, and directed the amenity secretaries to collect samples of water while chlorine is being laced. Corporator M Bharati, SE Bhaskar, and EE Koteswara Rao were among those who accompanied her.
