Speed up probe into cases of atrocities on SC/ST: SP

Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal has directed the police officials to expedite the inquiry into the SC/ST (Atrocities) cases and ensure that compensation is paid to the victims at the earliest.

SP Vakul Jindal directed the District Police Officers to speed up the investigation of the SC/ST cases. The District SP here on Tuesday reviewed the SC/ST cases at the Police Headquarters. The officials were asked about the details of the cases registered under the SC and ST Atrocities Act and their progress so far in the district.

The SP examined the case files himself and gave appropriate suggestions and advice to the officials regarding the investigation, arrest of the accused, and filing of charge sheets in the respective cases.

The SP told the police officials that after receiving the complaints of SC and ST Atrocity, immediately reach the place of occurrence and take up the investigation, during the investigation of the cases, behave politely with the victims, act transparently and impartially, complete the investigation quickly using professionalism and technology, file the charge sheet in the court within the specified period of time, and give severe punishment to the accused through an effective trail.

The SP warned of action if indifference is found in carrying out effective investigations in the SC/ST atrocities cases. He also directed the officials to take steps to ensure that the victims would get compensation at the earliest in the SC/ST atrocities cases.
