The Andhra Pradesh government has partnered with EESL for its landmark ‘Navaratnalu Pedalankriillu’ housing project under PMAY. The AP State Housing Corporation Limited (APSHCL) is taking the lead in providing high-quality, cost-effective, energy-efficient appliances to the beneficiaries of the housing scheme through EESL.

During a webinar with EESL CEO Vishal Kapoor and senior executives, AP Housing Corporation MD Lakshmisha, and ED Siva Kumar, Special Chief Secretary of AP Housing, Ajay Jain, reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering top-notch power infrastructure to the YSR Jagananna colonies. He emphasized that ensuring access to modern energy is a crucial step in elevating living standards and expanding economic opportunities for the beneficiaries.

Ajay Jain further highlighted the remarkable progress of the ‘Navaratnalu Pedalankriillu’ programme, with nearly 93% of the approved 21.25 lakh houses already in progress. The government’s substantial investment of approximately Rs 7,630 crore in the current fiscal year underscores its dedication to providing quality housing and social infrastructure. This initiative empowers residents to reduce electricity bills, enhance living standards, and contribute to environmental protection. Those who voluntarily opt for these appliances (not mandatory) will receive a package comprising 4 LED bulbs, 2 LED tube lights, and 2 Energy Efficiency fans at prices below market rates.

This strategic initiative is expected to lead to significant energy savings, estimated at 734 units per house annually, and a total of 1145 million units yearly across 15.6 lakh houses in phase-1 of the scheme. Energy-efficient BLDC fans are set to reduce consumption by 50%, LED tube lights by 60%, and LED bulbs by an impressive 90% compared to conventional appliances.

Ajay Jain expressed gratitude to Special Chief Secretary Energy, K Vijayanand, for providing full support for electricity infrastructure development and PMC activities for the Energy Efficiency project.

The Housing Department is committed to maintaining the highest quality of work in line with the directives of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The partnership between the Andhra Pradesh government and EESL shines as a beacon in the journey towards a sustainable and energy-efficient future for all.
