The 100-bed Area hospital is being constructed here and the second phase of works would be taken up for Rs 28 crore for which the Whip laid the foundation stone today.
Speaking on the occasion, Whip Grandhi Srinivas said that a proposal to construct a 100-bed hospital was made in 2004 when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was the Chief Minister. He was explained about the necessity of constructing the 100-bed Area hospital here. Rajasekhar Reddy responded favourably to the proposal.
However, the successive Chief Ministers did not sanction the project. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, after being elected to power, approved the construction of a 100-bed Area hospital in Bhimavaram.
The Chief Minister initially released a Rs 10.15 crore fund for the construction of a 50-bed hospital. With the funds, the first floor works were completed. The Chief Minister released Rs 28 crore now for the second phase of works of the Area hospital, the Whip said and thanked the Chief Minister for releasing the funds.
Whip Srinivas said that his family members purchased four acres of land with their own money and donated the same for the construction of the Area hospital. The Area hospital would provide advanced medical services to the people of not only West Godavari district but also Krishna district.
As soon as this hospital is brought into public use, the existing CHC hospital would be converted into a mother and child hospital,  he said, adding that due to the construction of this 100-bed hospital, four duty doctors and four nurses would be available at any time.
“The Area hospital consists of a Casual Block, OPD Block, Radiology, Physiotherapy, Central Lab, Registration ICTC, TB Section, Kitchen Laundry, Central Pharmacy Stores and Dialysis Wing. The Ambulance Garage, Generator Room, Biowaste room and mortuary building are also coming up,” Whip Srinivas made it clear.
