Minister for Water Resources, Ambati Rambabu, has appealed to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Kanna Lakshminarayana to stop using offensive language while referring to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Minister Rambabu stated that if such abuses persist, YSR Congress leaders and party members will respond fittingly. He also clarified that Lakshminarayana was appointed by Chandrababu Naidu as an in-charge for the Sattenapalli constituency, not as a candidate for the 2024 elections, thereby making it uncertain whether he will contest from the Sattenapalli segment.
Minister Rambabu further pointed out that Lakshminarayana’s political history, including his shifts from Congress to BJP and then to Telugu Desam, is well-documented. He highlighted that if one were to inquire about Kanna from Amit Shah, they would learn about Lakshminarayana’s opportunistic tendencies and his history of switching parties. In the 2019 elections, Rambabu recalled that BJP provided substantial funds for BJP candidates in Andhra Pradesh. However, Lakshminarayana failed to utilise these funds appropriately and instead diverted them for personal gain.
Regarding Kanna’s previous abusive and derogatory language aimed at Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Rambabu noted that Kanna’s recent attempts to cleanse his image by removing photos of Naidu demonstrate his opportunistic politics. Minister Rambabu emphasised that while criticism is a common occurrence in politics, resorting to personal abuse and using vulgar language, as Lakshminarayana has done against CM Jagan, is highly objectionable. Minister Rambabu demanded that Kanna exercise restraint in his remarks and warned that YSR Congress members would respond appropriately if the use of offensive language continues.
