Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO) and Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (TRANSCO) have issued orders suspending 200 artisans who were found to have participated in the strike on Tuesday.
The officials stated that the strike will not have any effect on the power supply and that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister any action that disrupts 24-hour electricity supply to consumers will not be ignored.
In response to the strike called by some artisans from April 25, the status of power generation, supply and distribution was reviewed on April 25 at Vidyut Soudha in the presence of senior officials, D Prabhakar Rao, Managing Director of TSGENCO-TSTRANSCO, G Raghuma Reddy, Managing Director of Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) and A Gopal Rao Managing Director of Telangana State Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL).
The officials said reports indicate that the strike has had no impact on power supply to consumers, with 100% of artisans working in power generation companies and 80% in transmission and distribution companies present for duty.
While the strike was called on the pretext that the amendment to wages was inadequate, several trade unions in power companies approved the wages on April 15. All artisans were informed in advance that the Emergency Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) is in force, and any strike would be considered misconduct as per Artisans Service Rule 34 (20).
In this regard, the officials have issued orders to suspend 200 artisan workers. They have also advised that all artisans who have not reported for duty do so by tuesday morning, failing which they will be dismissed from service.
Officials said that the power companies are committed to ensuring uninterrupted power supply to consumers and urge all artisans to report for duty and refrain from any actions that disrupt power supply to consumers.
