District Judge D Rajesh Babu has stressed the need to ensure that the students are made aware of their rights. He was taking part as chief guest at the legal awareness programme for agricultural students held, under the aegis of the mandal level legal cell, at Palem Regional Agricultural Station in Bijinapalli mandal of the district on Friday.

Free legal support is extended to the people of backward classes, illiterates and physically challenged by the mandal-level legal cell, he said, adding that everyone needs legal support at every stage.

“It is our duty to access the right guaranteed to us by the statute,” he remarked. Advising students to strive to make agriculture profitable by inventing new varieties of seeds, he called for increasing awareness of farmers in all aspects.

Principal Senior Civil Judge Sabita called upon women to strive to excel in all fields of activity and fight for their rights and work towards achieving women’s empowerment. The constitution provided equal rights for women in ancestral property, she said, advising women to grab the opportunity. She desired that women should earn a special place for them in society with the help of the laws of the land.

She appreciated 70 per cent of women choosing agriculture as their profession. Principal Junior Civil Judge K Swaroopa cautioned girls against child marriages and the menace of eve-teasing. The constitution gave many rights to women to protect themselves from dowry harassment.
