Sudarshan Reddy assumes charge as Telangana CEO

Sudarshan Reddy, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service from the 2002 batch, took charge as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana on Friday, succeeding Vikas Raj. Reddy is currently serving as the Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD). He was previously transferred as the Managing Director of HMWSSB immediately after the Revanth Reddy government came to power in December but was later moved to GAD in June.
Reddy has had a distinguished career, starting as a sub-collector in Paderu and later serving as the Municipal Commissioner of Rajamahendravaram. He worked as the Joint Collector of East Godavari District and was subsequently posted as Deputy Commissioner in the Commercial Tax Department. Reddy also served as the Joint Collector of Ranga Reddy District before being appointed as the Collector of Kurnool District from 2012 to 2014.
In his tenure, he has also held the position of Secretary to the Commissioner of the Commercial Tax Department. His Central services experience includes working as Director in the Union Ministry of Labor and Employment from March 2015 to September 2017 and as Director in the Defense Department from September 2017 to December 2019. From January 2020 to December 17, 2023, he served as the Secretary of the Municipal and Urban Development Department in Telangana State.
