Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra inaugurated the Summer Yoga Coaching Camp organised by the Amaravati Yoga and Aerobics Association at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium on Tuesday.
The camp aims to promote healthy lifestyles during the summer break and to encourage yoga as a daily practice among citizens. Marking the start of the camp, Commissioner Dhyanachandra performed yoga asanas alongside the students receiving training. Also, several trainees performed yoga asanas before the Municipal Commissioner.
In his address, the Commissioner underscored the holistic benefits of yoga, stating that regular practice can effectively address a wide range of health-related issues. He described natural yoga asanas as the simplest and an effective way to attain physical and mental well-being.
“Yoga is the only path to attaining true inner strength by harmonising all human energies,” Dhyanachandra said. He highlighted that yoga not only brings balance between the body and mind but also contributes to building a positive societal environment.
Emphasising the ancient roots and global relevance of yoga, the Commissioner remarked that the practice is a priceless gift from India to the world. In today’s fast-paced world, where mental stress and lifestyle diseases are rampant, he stressed that yoga offers a natural and accessible solution.
He also noted the significance of World Yoga Day, celebrated globally to raise awareness and appreciation for the benefits of yoga. Encouraging citizens to embrace yoga as a daily habit, Dhyanachandra said it can help individuals maintain youthfulness, prevent illnesses such as hypertension, thyroid disorders, and diabetes, and even reduce dependency on medication.
Finally, Commissioner Dhyanachandra urged parents to motivate their children to take an active interest in yoga. He stated that the discipline could shape not just healthy individuals, but also a healthier society.
