The Telangana High Court refused to grant bail to Sunil Yadav, the accused in the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.
The petition filed by Sunil Yadav was dismissed on Monday. The arguments on the bail petition filed by Sunil Yadav, the impleaded petitions filed by investigating agency (CBI), and YS Sunitha (daughter of Vivekananda Reddy) went on for a good length of time.
On behalf of Sunil, the counsel argued that personal freedom is being taken away under Article-21. It was brought to the notice of the court that Sunil has fully cooperated with the CBI in the investigation of the case. He has nothing to do with this case.
In reply, the CBI told the court that Viveka’s murder case is at a critical stage, and requested the court not to grant bail now. If bail is granted, there is a possibility of influencing the witnesses. After hearing the arguments of both, the bench agreed with the arguments of the CBI and dismissed the bail petition stating that the safety of the witnesses is more important than the personal freedom of the accused.
