‘Super ECBC building’ in Vizag by Jan, 2024

Must read

Energy-saving and eco-friendly buildings are on the horizon in Visakhapatnam, thanks to the efforts of the Union Ministry of Power-led Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). They are working on the concept of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC), and the goal is to finish a special building, called the Super ECBC building, by January 2024.
This Super ECBC building is designed to use almost no energy and will serve as a training centre to teach others about saving energy.
Director General of BEE, Abhay Bakre, believes that if everyone follows this new code, we can reduce 50% of the energy we use in buildings by 2030. This reduction is equivalent to preventing 300 million tons of CO2 emissions, which is great for the environment.
Saurab Didi, another leader at BEE, wants everyone to know that this isn’t just about changing rules for buildings. It’s a big change in how we live and work, and he encourages everyone to support this movement for a greener and more affordable future. He specifically mentions that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are crucial in making this happen. They already have over 1000 buildings following the new code, and more than 3000 people have been trained on it.
The Super ECBC building in Visakhapatnam is expected to be a shining example of what can be achieved. Abhay Bakre thanked Special CS Energy, K. Vijayanand, and CMD Eastern Power Distribution Company (EPDCL), Prudhvi Tej, for their hard work in making this special building a reality. With the support of BEE, EPDCL aims to finish the Super ECBC building by January 2024. This building won’t just save a lot of energy, around 50%, but it will also show others across the country how it can be done. It’s a step towards a more energy-efficient and sustainable future.
