Southwest monsoon has further advanced to some more parts of Telangana till Medak and Bhadradri\Kothagudem as per K Nagaratna, Head of the India Meteorological department (IMD), Hyderabad on Thursday.
According to IMD, the northern limit of the monsoon now passes through 17.0°N/60°E, 17.0°N/65°E, 16.5°N/70°E, Ratnagiri, Solapur, Medak, Bhadrachalam, Vizianagaram, 19.5°N/88°E, 21.5°N/89.5°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur. Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, some parts of south Chhattisgarh and South Odisha, remaining parts of West-central and more parts of Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days.
T Balaji, weather enthusiast, stated that while the south region of Telangana receives heavy rainfall, North Telangana will receive pending rains as there is one Low Pressure Area (LPA) ahead in the third week or fourth week of June.
He also stated that heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Jogulamba\Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda districts of Telangana. Alampur witnessed the highest rainfall with 96.2 mm followed by Nagarjuna Sagar with 84 mm followed by Devarakonda with 75 mm. In Hyderabad, Himayathnagar witnessed highest rainfall with 39.2 mm followed by Kukatpally, JNTU with 35.5 mm and Charminar with 34.8 mms. Heavy rains are likely to occur in Bhadradri\Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Nagar Kurnool, Wanaparthy and Narayanapet districts in Telangana. Showers with thunder, lightning and gusty winds (wind speed 30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana. Hyderabad recorded the maximum temperature with 36.1°C while the minimum temperature was 24.5 °C.
