A wide-ranging discussion was organized under the leadership of District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad, focusing on the “Swarnandhra @ 2047 Vision Plan,” which aligns with the goals of Viksit Bharat. The meeting, held at the Collectorate, saw participation from officials of various district departments, representatives of voluntary organizations, industrialists, and farmers’ associations, all contributing practical suggestions for the state’s development.
Emphasizing the importance of inclusive economic policies, attendees stressed the need to embrace technological advancements and innovation for achieving the state’s developmental goals by 2047. The discussions centred on undertaking transformative projects in the next five years (by 2029) to create new educational and employment opportunities, particularly for the youth, while modernizing agricultural practices to achieve tangible progress.
In his presentation, District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad outlined the state and district development plans, calling for a comprehensive approach to align with India’s vision of 100 years of independence. “We must give equal priority to the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors while fostering an environment that welcomes innovation. Andhra Pradesh, with its vast natural resources and 975 km of coastline, has immense potential to achieve remarkable results if we manage these resources sustainably,” said Prasad.
He further highlighted the need to identify growth engines and provide targeted incentives to propel the state’s economy. “Economic, social, and welfare development must go hand-in-hand,” he added, calling for concerted efforts to improve job and business opportunities through training, climate-responsive crop planning, and public-private partnerships (PPP).
“We must address critical issues like poverty eradication, renewable energy, gender equality, and environmental protection to achieve the desired outcomes for a prosperous future,” Prasad emphasized, while also advocating for the creation of MSME and technology service hubs to boost economic growth.
Looking ahead to 2029, Prasad underscored the importance of discoveries and innovations to transform Visakhapatnam’s future. “Our district currently contributes 9.15% to the state’s GSDP, and we should all work together to raise this figure to 15%. Public health and welfare must be prioritized through basic infrastructure and by meeting the minimum needs of the people,” he said.
The meeting also saw input from various participants. “Visakhapatnam has the potential to lead in education, employment, and technological innovation, but this requires a united effort and strategic planning,” said a representative from CREDAI. Others echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for sustainable development and modern agricultural practices to enhance the living standards of the population.
GVMC Commissioner PSam path Kumar, VMRDA Commissioner KS Viswanathan, CPO Srinivasa Rao, and representatives from FICCI, RINL, V-SEZ, and Bell, along with other district officials, also participated in the meeting, offering their insights and suggestions for the Swarnandhra 2047 Vision Plan. All suggestions were noted and will be considered for the formulation of the final vision plan.
