Vice Chairman of TSCHE pitches at Delhi conference

Prof. Venkata Ramana, the Vice Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, was the lead for presenting Telangana’s inputs on education policies at a conference organised by the India Didactics Association in New Delhi.

Prof. Venkata Ramana said that without any compromise in raising the standards of higher education, changes are necessary in higher education.

Speaking to ‘The Pioneer’ he said, “It was all about how education can be liberal and multi-disciplinary, how do we get industry more into the classroom, how do we retain faculty enrichment for work, how do we add value to students and internalization.”

We also pitched Hyderabad for the next conference by mapping out developments in technology as we have everything in Pharma, IT and Life Sciences with a depth presentation and they noted that they know Hyderabad.

Certain aspects like how Telangana brought quality into classrooms and provided hands-on experience to students with internship opportunities were discussed.

On the innovation front, we explained the works of T-Hub and that there would be incubators for start-up ideas, he added.

Later, the professor elaborated that his session was on how without any compromise on raising the standards of higher education, changes and additions are necessary in higher education to create employment and professional skills.

He said that there should be changes in the education system according to the needs of information exchange, creativity, problem-solving and market.

It is said that ideas should be such that a student can adopt innovations while using the best technology. He spoke on the new curriculum, teacher training, internship and other topics in Telangana state higher education.

The Vice Chairman explained that research and innovation should be prioritized for better results and new platforms are needed for students to exchange their ideas.

About 65 Vice-Chancellors from various states along with representatives from the three states of Gujarat, Karnataka and Telangana participated in the conference to share best practices and prepare a roadmap for higher education on how to improve quality education in India by encouraging innovation and research.

Vice-Chairman Prof. Venkataramana said that the main agenda of the conference was how to strategically design the implementation of practical solutions for teaching and learning.

Expressing his views at the meeting, he shared his views with the VCs of various states and government representatives about administration and management in Telangana and the role of the government in higher education.
