Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress president Lam Tantiya Kumari took charge as Women Congress president at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Monday. AP Congress Committee president Gidugu Rudra Raju led the swearing-in function.
Speaking on the occasion, Rudra Raju said that women’s empowerment would be realised only by the Congress party. They will get honour in the Congress party.
Under the leadership of Tantiya Kumari, the Congress party and Mahila Congress would be strengthened, he said. Further, he said his party would be in the forefront to provide 33 per cent reservations for women, he added.
Tantiya Kumari said that she would do her best for the development of women in the State. There is no protection for women in the State. Women would fight united against atrocities and attacks, she added.
AP Women Congress in-charge Hasina, AICC secretary Usha, APCC working president Mastan Vali, leaders Janga Gowtham, Satyavathi, M Rajeswara Rao, V Gutunadham and N Narasimha Rao, and others were present.
