Unidentified miscreants poured petrol and set on fire the campaign vehicle of Telugu Desam party at Vittalam village in Valmikipuram mandal in Annamayya district on Saturday.
The driver of the campaign vehicle suffered injuries in the incident. The driver told the police that two miscreants came on a motorcycle, which had no number plate, and set the vehicle on fire. The driver of the campaign vehicle was admitted to a hospital.
CI Puli Sekhar rushed to the place and registered a case. The TDP leaders and activists staged a rasta roko on the national highway in protest against the burning of the campaign vehicle.
Talking to the media TDP candidate N Kishore Kumar Reddy alleged that with the fear of defeat the ruling party leaders were indulging in such acts. He demanded the police to arrest the culprits immediately. TDP’s campaign vehicle set up fire by miscreants
Police said that miscreants poured petrol on the vehicle and set it on fire even before the driver got down from the vehicle.
The campaign vehicle was completely gutted in the fire.
