TDP leaders who organised a meeting with party chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Yerragondapalem on Friday have been booked by the Prakasam district police for holding the meeting without permission. Local DSP Kishore Kumar told the media that the police were collecting video footage of the TDP meeting and would identify the activists who allegedly pelted stones at Minister Audimulapu Suresh’s office, where the meeting was held.
The DSP stated that there was retaliation from the Minister’s supporters and YSR Congress activists, and declared that the police would take action against those who threw stones. “We are trying to identify who started pelting stones first. We will take severe action against the guilty,” he said.
Naidu and the TDP have alleged that YSRCP leaders were responsible for the violence, while the Minister and ruling party leaders have accused Naidu of holding a meeting at the Minister’s office solely to provoke their workers. The Minister also claimed that TDP activists were the first to throw stones at his office during Naidu’s speech, which he described as provocative.
