Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has requested AP DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy to provide proper security to Nara Lokesh’s ‘padayatra’ ‘Yuva Galam’ which is scheduled to start on January 27. TDP politburo member, Varla Ramaiah stated that three leaders from the TDP will meet the DGP to clarify if he has any doubts about the walkathon. He wrote a letter to the DGP objecting to unwanted and undesirable queries on Lokesh’s ‘padayatra’.

Strongly responding to the DGP’s missive, Ramaiah has made it clear that this is not the first time in the history of the nation that a leader is undertaking a ‘padayatra’. “Former prime minister, Chandra Sekhar, former chief ministers of the State, Late NTR and Late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, former chief minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and those who fought for Independence like Mahatma Gandhi also went on ‘padayatra’,” he pointed out.

Ramaiah also mentioned in his letter the recent ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ by the AICC leader, Rahul Gandhi, and the ‘padayatra’ by Sharmila, sister of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He requested the DGP to take steps to provide proper security for the ‘Yuva Galam’. He said that Lokesh, through his ‘padayatra’, intends to bring awareness among the public on various issues plaguing the State like lack of employment opportunities, poor welfare, and development in the State.

Ramaiah said that the detailed schedule of the ‘Yuva Galam’ covering around 125 Assembly segments spread over 4,000 km will be provided to the local sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) ahead of the schedule to enable the local police to provide necessary security arrangements.
