A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Polavaram right canal at Koppaka village in Pedavegi mandal on Friday but the parents and relatives of the boy alleged that he committed suicide unable to bear the harassment of a teacher.
Police said that the deceased Pamarti Pradip (14) was studying 10 the class. He went to the Polavaram right canal at around 8:30 am. He was found drowning in the canal. The police and fire brigade searched for the body and later they fished out the body. The police registered a case and shifted the body to the GGH for postmortem.
However, the father of the boy Pamarti Rambabu alleged that he committed suicide by jumping into the canal as the teacher rebuked him. The relatives of the deceased boy staged a dharna with the body at Koppaka high school. DEO and other officials rushed to the school. Former MLA and TDP leader Chintamaneni Prabhakar consoled the bereaved family members.
