Must read

Telangana Health Minster Harish Rao on Thursday inaugurated a five-bed dialysis centre at the Nampally Basti Dawakhana.

Following the inauguration, Rao said, “About 12,000 people are undergoing dialysis in the state, and 10,000 of them are being given free dialysis by the government. Dialysis is being done using single use filter through Arogya Sri like nowhere else in the country. We provide quality services in a corporate manner without getting infection from one to another. Our approach has become a model for many states.”
“The Telangana government is also providing support pension and free bus pass to provide financial security to dialysis patients in Telangana. Up to 150 kidney transplants are done annually. Up to Rs 10 lakh is borne by the government under Arogya Sri. If done outside it will cost up to Rs 20 lakh. Medicines worth Rs 15,000 are being provided free of cost, the minister said.”

“For patients with kidney issues, Rs 200 crore is being spent, out of which we are spending Rs 100 crore per year on dialysis patients alone. At the time of formation of Telangana, there were 28 government blood banks in our state. Now we have increased that number to 56,” he added.

“The state government has given component separators to 27 blood banks. Because of them, we are using one unit of blood for three to four people,” Rao said.

“TIMS works are progressing rapidly across the city. We are also updating Gachibowli TIMS to 1,000 beds. CM KCR has granted additional 2,000 beds to NIMS and 6,000 super-specialty beds will be made available through these.CM KCR will lay the foundation stone for NIMS expansion in May,” the minister said.

“Trauma care centres will be strengthened. We are strengthening it by classifying it as level 1, 2, 3. We are taking steps to provide emergency services. Telangana is the only state in the country that provides funds for the maintenance of hospitals. The only government that is giving Rs 7,500 per bed is CM KCR’s government,” he stated.

“Telangana government has established a midwifery system for the first time in the country to promote normal births. We are training them for 18 months in Nampally. The diet charges have been doubled. Government deliveries have increased from 30 per cent earlier to 65 per cent. It is a proof that people’s trust in government medicine has increased,” Rao explained.
