Telangana given short shrift in Union Budget

Rajya Sabha Member Vaddiraju Ravichandra extended congratulations to Nirmala Sitharaman, who presented the Union Budget for the 8th consecutive time in Parliament. Despite the Central government introducing a massive budget of Rs 50.65 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26, it is highly unfair that no special allocation was made for Telangana. This budget has once again deeply disappointed the people of Telangana.
The Central government showered benefits on states like Bihar and Delhi, keeping the upcoming Assembly elections in mind. While Bihar was promised the establishment of a Greenfield Airport, Telangana’s airports in Mamnoor, Khammam, Adilabad, and Kothagudem were not given any attention, which is deeply objectionable. Ravichandra personally met the Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu, to submit a petition regarding these issues. Despite this, the budget made no mention of these airports, which is unjust.
Ignoring the legitimate demand of the people of Telangana for national status and funds for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project is condemnable. Furthermore, the longstanding demand for the Bayyaram Steel Plant, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Sainik Schools, and the establishment of Navodaya Schools in newly formed districts was completely disregarded, he said
