Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are the top two States with the highest percentage of billionaire MPs. Around five (45%) of the 11 MPs from Andhra Pradesh and three (43%) of the seven MPs from Telangana have declared assets worth around Rs 100 crore.
The total assets of the seven MPs analysed from Telangana is Rs 5,596 crore, followed by 11 MPs from Andhra Pradesh with Rs 3,823 crore. 30 MPs analysed from Uttar Pradesh have assets worth Rs 1,941 crore.
The total assets of the 85 BJP MPs analysed is Rs 2,579 crore, and that of the 30 INC MPs analysed is Rs 1,549 crore. The nine YSRCP MPs analysed have Rs 3,561 crore, and seven TRS MPs analysed have Rs 5,596 crore. The 10 AAP MPs have assets worth Rs 1,316 crore.
The top three Rajya Sabha MPs with high assets is Dr Bandi Partha Saradhi with Rs 5,300 crore, followed by Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy with Rs 2,577 crore and Jaya Amitabh Bachchan with Rs 1,001 crore.
The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the National Election Watch (NEW) analysed the criminal, financial and other background details of 225 of 233 Rajya Sabha MPs.
In the current Rajya Sabha one seat is vacant. Three MPs have not been analysed as their affidavits were unavailable and four seats of Jammu and Kashmir are undefined.
43% of TRS Rajya Sabha MPs have criminal cases against them along with 33% of YSRCP MPs.
Of the 225 Rajya Sabha MPs analysed, 75 (33%) MPs have declared criminal cases against themselves. 41 (18%) Rajya Sabha MPs have declared serious criminal cases. Two Rajya Sabha MPs have declared cases of murder (IPC Section 302). Four Rajya Sabha MPs have declared cases of attempt to murder (IPC Section 307) and four Rajya Sabha MPs have declared cases of crimes against women.
Of the four MPs, one Rajya Sabha MP, namely KC Venugopal (INC) from Rajasthan, has declared a case of rape (IPC Section 376).
