Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged Union Health Minister JP Nadda to release the pending dues of Rs 693.13 crore to Telangana under the National Health Mission (NHM) immediately.
The Chief Minister called on Nadda in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting, the CM explained the initiatives taken by the TG government to improve medical facilities and the special focus on strengthening the health sector in the state.
The CM informed the Union Health Minister that the state government has been implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme since January.
The Chief Minister told the Union Minister of the establishment of 5,159 Basti Dawakhanas (Ayushman Arogya Mandirs) to provide better healthcare services in rural and urban areas.
As the state government is giving top priority to medical services, the CM urged Nadda to extend cooperation to the state and release dues pending under the National Health Mission.
The CM brought to the notice of the Union Minister, that for the third and fourth quarters of 2023-24, under the NHM scheme, dues of Rs 323.73 crore were still pending. Similarly, he said that dues of Rs 138 crore pertaining to the first quarter of 2024-25 were pending and requested Nadda to release these funds immediately.
The Chief Minister also asked Nadda to reimburse dues of Rs 231.40 crore for the year 2023-2024, which the state government had spent on infrastructure and maintenance under the NHM.
The CM told Nadda that regarding the NHM scheme, the state government is releasing the entire expected Central share of funds along with the state’s share from October 2023 to ensure that there is no disruption in extending emergency medical services and to avoid problems for staff.
Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, P. Srinivas Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav and the state’s Special Representative in New Delhi, AP Jitendar Reddy, were also present at the meeting.
