The Telangana government is making plans to issue family digital cards to all families in the state. The single card will provide medical services and can also be used to avail of ration and other social welfare scheme benefits.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a review meeting on family digital cards with top officials of the Medical and Health and Civil Supplies departments at his residence here on Monday.
The CM asked the officials to study the benefits of digital cards, which have already been issued in Rajasthan, Haryana and Karnataka, and submit a comprehensive report. The report will also explain the challenges faced by people while using the cards to avail services.
The CM asked the officials to select an urban area and a village in all Assembly constituencies and prepare an action plan for issuing the family digital card on a pilot project.
The CM emphasized that the digital cards should help cardholders to avail all welfare scheme benefits including medical care, ration and other state sponsored programmes.
The medical profile of all family members will be included in the family digital card which would be useful to provide medical services to family members in future.
The Chief Minister ordered the officials to provide an option to update details of the family members by addition or deletion of names from time to time in the card and also set up a special mechanism at the district level for monitoring of the family digital cards.
Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodara Raja Narasimha, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, Chief Minister’s Secretaries Chandrasekhar Reddy, Sangeeta Satyanarayana, Civil Supplies Commissioner Dr DS Chauhan, Health Department Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu and others attended the meeting.
