Agasara Nandini, a student from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College in Budhera, Sangareddy district, has secured a gold medal in the Heptathlon event at the 38th National Sports Championship held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from February 8 to 12. Nandini, a final-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student, showcased exceptional athletic prowess by outperforming competitors from across the country.
The national-level event witnessed the participation of nearly 10,000 athletes and officials representing 38 teams from various states. Competitions were held across six cities – Haridwar, Nainital, Haldwani, Rudrapur, Shivpuri, and New Tehri – covering multiple Olympic sports, including athletics, shooting, wrestling, swimming, hockey, boxing, badminton, weightlifting, football, tennis, and table tennis.
With only 10 athletes qualifying for the Heptathlon finals, Nandini demonstrated outstanding skill and determination, securing the top spot. The Heptathlon consists of seven challenging events: 100 meters hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters sprint, javelin throw, long jump and 800 meters race. By excelling in all seven events, Nandini clinched first place, earning a gold medal for Telangana.
