Miss Thailand, Opal Suchata Chuangsri, was crowned Miss World 2025 at the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad on Saturday.
She received the crown from Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszková, at the end of a grand celebration that featured weeks of cultural exchange, competition and international camaraderie.
During the final round, Miss World 2025 Judge Sonu Sood asked Opal the question, “What has the journey taught you about truth and personal responsibility in shaping how stories are told?”
Opal answered, “Being here in India has been the greatest opportunity, and I have learnt how choices around responsibility are made. One thing I, along with all other contestants, have learnt is about being someone others look up to. No matter what title you hold, there is always someone next to you who approaches you with respect. All we can do is act gracefully in return.”
The event was hosted by former Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle and Indian television personality Sachiin Kumbhar. the world, who competed in various fast-track events like Head to Head Challenge, Top Model, Beauty with a Purpose, Talent, Sports and Multimedia.
These events helped narrow down the participants from a Top 40 to Top 10 from each continent, then to the Top 5, Top 2, and finally the winner.
The panel of judges included Indian businesswoman Sudha Reddy, actor Rana Daggubati, Indian actress Namratha Shirodkar Ghattamaneni, former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, Miss World CEO Julia Morley, Carina Tyrell and Donna Walsh.
Jayesh Ranjan, the Special Chief Secretary for Tourism, also joined the panel to represent the Telangana Government.

Nandini Gupta fails to make it to top 8
India’s Miss World contestant Nandini Gupta was eliminated before she could reach top 8 at the 72nd Miss World contest on Saturday, being held in Hyderabad.

If Gupta had won the pageant, she would have been the seventh one from India to take the crown. Manushi Chillar was the last to win in 2017.
The first Miss World from India was Reita Faria, who won the crown in 1966. Incidentally, she was also the first Asian Miss world.
Aishwarya Rai won the crown in 1994, Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999, and Priyanka Chopra in 2000.
