The Flying Squad officials stopped the campaign of MP Vanga Geeta in Pithapuram on Saturday. Vanga Geeta is contesting for Assembly from the Pithapuram constituency. Vanga Geeta expedited her campaign in Pithapuram constituency as she was vying with Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan.
When Vanga Geeta, accompanied by Pithapuram municipal vice-chairman Kottapalli Padma and other leaders were carrying out election campaigns in three and four wards, the election flying squad officials prevented her campaign stating that she did not obtain permission.
Flying squad head RV Prasad, along with police, asked Vanga Geeta to stop the campaign as they did not take prior permission. They also told her that carrying out an election campaign without permission amounted to violating the election code of conduct. The officials asked the YSRCP leaders to show the permission if they had taken it. Since the YSRCP leaders did not take permission for the door-to-door campaign, they stopped their campaign and went back.
It may be mentioned here that the Pithapuram Assembly constituency is the cynosure of all eyes in the state as JSP chief K Pawan Kalyan is contesting there. As the YSRCP has finalized the candidature of Vanga Geeta for Pithapuram she is extensively campaigning in the constituency. Meanwhile, the JSP has announced that Pawan Kalyan will launch an election campaign in Pithapuram on March 27.
