Thousands of devotees throng ongoing ‘Veeramma Thalli’ fete

Must read

Thousands of devotees flocked to the Vuyyuru Veeramma Talli temple in the Krishna district on Sunday to fulfil their religious vows. The Vuyyuru Veeramma Talli Tirunallu, a 15-day festival, commenced on February 19 and has drawn devotees in large numbers.
Traditionally observed during the Magha Masam month, this festival spans 15 days from Shukla Paksha Ekadasi to Krushna Paksha Ekadasi. Given that Sunday coincided with a holiday, devotees seized the opportunity to visit the temple with their families and fulfil their religious obligations.
During the festival, devotees engaged in various religious activities, including the sacrificial offerings of goats, sheep, and cocks. Special pujas were conducted in honour of the goddess Veeramma Talli, while women prepared ‘Pongallu’—a traditional dish made from rice, milk, and jaggery—as offerings to the deity.
The Veeramma Talli Tirunallu holds significance not only for the locals of Vuyyuru and its vicinity but also for residents of neighbouring regions.
Many individuals travel from distant areas to their hometowns to participate in the festivities.
The fair attracts visitors from across the globe, as well as those from nearby villages, who come to pay their respects to the deity. The Sidibandi festival, scheduled for the 11th day, will be held at Vuyyuru, with the concluding ceremonies taking place on the 15th day.
