Top priority to energy conservation, says CS

Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy has said that the State government has been giving utmost priority to the promotion of efficient use of energy and its conservation which is the least-cost option to meet the increasing energy demand, achieve cost-effective power, and sustainable development.

The CS said that the energy conservation programmes would be taken to the y grass root level, duly involving farmer organisations, industrial organisations, NGOs, Self-Help Groups, employees and others. District-level Energy Conservation Committees headed by the District Collectors were constituted to create awareness of energy conservation and the Superintending Engineer of the district will be the member/convener of the committee.

State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM), Energy Department, Govt. of AP and the State Designated Agency of AP are organising the National Energy Conservation Week in a systematic manner with active co-ordination of DISCOMS every year from December 14 to 20 duly involving all the key sectors/deppartments like Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), Agriculture, Industry, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Education, etc. at district headquarters, so as to create awareness among all the stakeholders on the significance and the need for energy conservation for the betterment of the society.

CEO/APSECM and his team, SDA of AP (ceo.secm@gmail.com; 9848858049) will coordinate for the implementation of awareness activities during the week.
