The Congress leadership has reportedly taken a decision to give the new TPCC post to BCs. In the weaker sections, SCs and BCs are very important to any political party. The Chief Minister’s post was given to Reddy community which is predominant in the forward castes. For SC community, Deputy Chief Minister post was given. Now only BC community is left in giving important post.
In view of the coming Lok Sabha elections to attract the BC community, the Congress leadership is planning to give the new president to the TPCC. At present, the new TPCC president post is revolving around two BC leaders. One is TPCC working president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and the other is former MP Madhu Yashki Goud. According to Congress sources, Chief Minister and TPCC president A Revanth Reddy is backing Mahesh Kumar Goud for the new TPCC president’s post.
Madhu Yashki is also trying for TPCC Â president’s post as he has close relations with AICC leaders.
As per Congress leader’s opinion, the party high command may not prefer to appoint a heavy weight as a TPCC president. In the past, the Congress leadership used to encourage indirectly another power centre against the Chief Ministers in the Congress ruled states. During 1989 to 1994, when the Congress was in power in the United Andhra Pradesh, late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy emerged as a power centre against the Chief Ministers. During that period, YS Rajasekhar Reddy had become a strong dissident leader in the Congress. But after Sonia Gandhi became the AICC president, this had changed.
Instead of encouraging a second power centre, she had started giving importance to unity in the party. Under these circumstances, the Congress leadership is likely to prefer to appoint new TPCC president who will sail with the Chief Minister.
If the Congress high command accepts Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposal, Mahesh Kumar Goud has better chances to become the new TPCC chief.
Meanwhile, Madhu Yashki is reportedly telling the AICC leaders that if he will be given the TPCC chief’s post, he will not contest in the Lok Sabha elections and work hard for winning majority seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections. Madhu Yashki was elected as an MP from Nizamabad in 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
He is telling the AICC leaders that if Mahesh Kumar Goud will be given Nizamabad Lok Sabha ticket, he will try for his victory.
