Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan has said that the traditional lines of treatment are becoming the first choice for lifestyle diseases like diabetes, stress, hypertension, etc.
as the alternative systems of medicine are providing holistic treatment to combat physical and mental illnesses. His recorded video message was delivered at Ayurveda Parv, the three-day national-level programme organised by the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Vijayawada, in association with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and Vinoba Seva Pratisthan, an NGO at Anam Kala Kendra in Rajamahenravaram, on Friday.
Governor Harichandan said that the ancient medicinal system had been proven to heal, cure and prevent diseases from recurring in the body as it was known to internally cleanse the body for improved health so that the body could eliminate toxins.
He said the affordability and absence of any side effects were helping the traditional lines of treatment is gaining popularity among many people as they promoted healthy habits like a sufficient amount of sleep, proper detoxification practices, regular physical exercise, yoga, meditation, a balanced diet, and a healthy social and personal life.
“The biggest learning from the pandemic is that if we want a healthy society, we need to improve our healthcare system so that it can handle the situation effectively,” said the Governor. He further said that the cost of healthcare should be reduced and last-mile delivery of patient care in remote areas should be ensured.
He added that programmes like Ayurveda Parv would be helpful in establishing Ayurveda as the main system of treatment among the masses by removing the misconception of the traditional system of medicine. Margani Bharath, Rajamahendravaram MP, Manoj Jena, convener, Balu Akkisa, coordinator, Ayurveda Parv, Dr. Gunna Rajender Reddy, chairman of Vinoba Development Society, Hardayal Khuswaha, secretary general of Gandhi Global Foundation, Dr. Sujata P Dhoke and Dr. C Murali Krishna of the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute were among those who attended the programme.
