Ekam Kshetra located in Varadaiahpalem in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, provides a space for people to experience their inner consciousness to the fullest and pave a path for the single most desired goal of any human being on this planet, enlightenment. Preethaji and Krishnaji have been the face of the spiritual space, helping innumerable seekers from all over the world who head to the divine space to attain a deeper understanding of themselves through various practices provided.

On the face of it, people in the modern world have come to view spirituality as a thing of the past and an unattainable concept for the ordinary. However, India is considered to be the birthplace of spirituality, where several spiritual gurus have transformed the lives of people from all walks of the life and guided them through life with priceless knowledge and wisdom.

In view of the three days spiritual intensive Bodhi session conducted at Shipakalavedika, Hyderabad, we had a wonderful opportunity to sit down for an exclusive interview with Preethaji herself. Without further ado, let’s dive into the interview, which gives us a brief idea of the five-step path created by the duo toward enlightenment and Preethaji’s take on the existential problems that we all are akin to on a daily basis.

Vision is what sets apart a successful organisation from mediocre ones. It is a huge task to set millions of people free from their inhibitions. To lead millions on a path that offers enlightenment is a responsibility that needs immense courage and patience. In a warm tone, Preethaji responded, “The vision was born out of the personal spiritual experiences that we had. The largest part of the world that we see, has separated spirituality from their being, in order to find material fulfillment. Whatever we see in the world today, be it deep suffering, broken systems, or families, it is because people don’t have a spiritual component in their lives. India is religious and has been a multidimensional spiritual nation, but it has lost momentum over time. Rediscovering true spirituality would be the solution to the problems that we are seeing today. Our own experiences are the teachings that we share with the world. Our vision is to integrate the extremes, the one of the busy world and the quintessential spirituality. To live in a profound state of consciousness and from that state, create one’s life, career, and wealth. It is the integration of what was once considered to be extreme opposites. We believe that is how life should be lived.”

Several guru’s have been criticised for not leading the life of a common man. In a regular world, we are faced with challenges and we are required to meet them with utmost sincerity to win over life. What is unique about these two transformational leaders is that they do live like the rest. They are very much in the game of life, but the catch here is that they are in a higher state of consciousness that sets them apart from the rest of us. We pondered upon the thought of how Preethji meets the problems of day-to-day life. “When we live in a profound state of consciousness, there are challenges, ups and downs, and obstacles. If the inner self reeks of calm and peace, even external life feels more calm and harmonious. I can’t stress enough the importance that our inner state needs to be given, which is totally neglected in our civilisation. You are trying to find solutions to so many of your problems, but are you paying attention and nurturing your beautiful inner state of consciousness? Or are you simply allowing life to flow through you and being submerged in a state of suffering?”questioned the modern-day guru.

Relationships take up a lot of our mental energy. There is a lot of conflicts when a bond shatters between two people. Contemplating suicide over a broken relationship is not new, but why is this happening? Why does another human being have such an impact on our lives? What is love?

Musing over some of these questions, the philanthropist answered, “What a relationship really requires from your end is a heart that can love. A heart that can nourish and connect, but the more you are in stress and constantly struggling in life, that kind of closes one’s heart. When you have a heart that can truly connect, you are capable of a relationship. If you do not have a heart that can hold the space for the other, and let others into your experience, then there is really no point to a relationship.”

Aren’t you excited to know about the five stages that lead toward the journey of enlightenment? “Krishnaji and I have created a five-stage path toward enlightenment. The first stage is being conscious; we have practices and meditations for bringing this consciousness. The second stage is being aware, where you move your attention from the external noisy world to your inner self. The third stage is all about transformation, where you become free of the past pain, suffering, and inner turmoil which shut your heart. The fourth stage is awakening, that is what Bodhi does. In this stage, you move beyond the limited experience of life and the non-stop inner chattering. Bodhi takes you beyond all the external noise and acts as a tool that gives you that true experience of awakening. When the chatter becomes quiet and silent, then you’re completely alive to that moment. People experience a divine sense of awakening and these are the things that I lead my seekers through Bodhi. The fifth stage is enlightenment, this happens at Ekam. Enlightenment is a journey that we lead seekers through. We have people coming from different cultures across the globe. We immerse in the experience of enlightenment where the identities of the limiting mind are gone. The experience of oneness, the universe being you or vice versa, blissfulness, this the journey that we immerse in. Bodhi is to push beyond the ordinary experience of life,” patiently explained Preethaji.

The conversation came to a smooth end with the co-founder of Ekam Kshetra giving her piece of advice to people of all age groups, “It is only in the experience of being able to connect deeply with nature, people, and life, that one will find a greater purpose to something good for oneself and society. We should be driven by a purpose that is born out of connection but not driven by self-centric pursuit which will only lead us to burn out sooner or later. The idea of competition has to change as we are not being fair to our children. This has to change.”
