A group of leaders, led by Minister for Finance T Harish Rao went to the house of former minister and senior BRS leader Tummala Nageswara Rao. The visit of Harish Rao, who is known as a troubleshooter, with Tummala Nageswara Rao has become a topic of discussion in State politics.
There are signs that former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is moving away from BRS. Thummala is hoping to contest as MLA again from Paleru and recently Atmiya Sammelana was also held.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is scheduled to hold a meeting in Kothagudem on Thursday. Also, a huge public meeting of BRS will be held in Khammam on 18 January. Harish Rao went to Thummala’s house to ensure that the BRS meeting is a success.
Harish Rao, Satthupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Ashwaraopet MLA Nageswara Rao went to Tummala’s house in Gandugalapally under Dammapet mandal.
Harish Rao inspected the arrangements ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit to Khammam district. On this occasion, he visited the newly constructed Collectorate building complex. Later, he inspected the venue of the public meeting and reviewed the arrangements with the officials.
The Minister was accompanied by local MLA and Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao, MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and local leaders in the review.
Khammam has become a place for the political tussle. Recently, the leaders there have expressed their displeasure and used new year celebrations to show their strength, apart from making comments. Tummala Nageswara Rao said that he has developed Khammam district a lot in his 40 years of political career. He said that he worked as a minister during the tenure of NT Rama Rao, N. Chandrababu Naidu and K. Chandrasekhara Rao, and the contribution made by the three Chief Ministers in the implementation of irrigation projects is unforgettable.
His supporters raised slogans to give him a ticket in the next assembly elections. They promised to support him in whatever decision he takes regarding his political future. About 10,000 booklets were distributed to the party workers explaining the progress achieved in the district in the last four decades.
On the other hand, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy asked his supporters to wait for the party high command’s decision on his political future and exercise restraint. He said everyone knows how the BRS leadership is treating him since he was denied a ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Also, he said that he needs to think about the respect he got in the party and the things that are going to happen in the future. He also announced that his team is ready to contest the upcoming state assembly elections.
